A non-profit collective system that ensures the comprehensive management of used lead-acid batteries,

through compliance with the legal provisions established by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition in Ministerial Agreement 034.

BAPU ensures the traceability of used lead-acid batteries through all of its stages in an environmentally sound manner, and documented in accordance with the regulatory entity’s requirements, guaranteeing the comprehensive utilization of the waste.

BAPU has a Comprehensive Management Plan, aproved by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Ecological Transition, which establishes the actions for strengthening the proper management of used lead-acid batteries and its financing mechanism known as “Battery Ecovalue.” Since August 1, 2022, this mechanism is detailed on all battery sales invoices.
